TRADITIONAL ORTHODONTICS
Ceramic Braces – Metal Braces
This treatment uses fixed appliances commonly known as “braces” or “brackets.”
Brackets can be metal (silver) or more discreet ceramic (clear).
Traditional braces are used to correct dental misalignments. This treatment addresses issues such as crowding (crooked teeth), gaps between teeth, and minor bite discrepancies.
Elastics are often used alongside the braces during treatment.
FAQ
It depends on the complexity of the case (with or without extractions, tooth traction, or jaw surgery) as well as the patient's compliance.
The duration can therefore vary.
Some treatments may last 1 year, while others can take up to 3 years. On average, a treatment lasts around 2 years.
An estimated duration will be provided during the first consultation.
Pain is subjective—everyone experiences it differently.
The placement of the braces themselves is not painful.
However, about 24 hours after the placement, the teeth may become sensitive for a few days.
The brackets may also cause slight irritation to the cheeks or lips.
This discomfort is temporary, and your orthodontist will provide everything you need (wax, gel, etc.) to relieve it.
It includes:
- Brackets (small attachments bonded to the teeth)
- Slot (the groove in the bracket where the wire is placed)
- Clip (in self-ligating brackets, the mechanism that holds the wire)
- Archwire (the metal wire that connects all the brackets and guides tooth movement)
Dr. Kebaili uses self-ligating brackets (ceramic brackets with a metal clip), which do not turn yellow.

Every 6 to 8 weeks.
True orthodontic emergencies are rare. However, if your appliance is causing discomfort or irritation, don’t hesitate to contact the office.
We’ll schedule an appointment for you as soon as possible.
YES! Wearing braces requires some dietary adjustments. It’s recommended to avoid foods that are too hard or sticky, as they can cause brackets to come loose—leading to emergency visits and delays in your treatment.
